Greece has been very fortunate in dealing with the Covid-19 global pandemic. The number of cases and fatalities have been low compared to other Mediterranean countries like Italy and Spain. The Greek Government acted very quickly in 'locking-down' the country and the people reacted positively to the situation which helped to limit the spread of the Coronavirus.

Hollywood action star Gerard Butler, who portrayed King Leonidas in the 2006 blockbuster film '300', visited Sparta in mid-March 2020 to take part in the forthcoming 2,500-year anniversary celebrations of the Battle of Thermopylae. Eleftheria Arvanitaki and Yiannis Kotsiras appeared at the Ermioni football arena for a concert on Saturday 17th August 2019. The performance was wonderful with duets as well as personal favourites from these two great artists. There was also a 20 minute encore from the two, once they had finished their normal performace with a standing audience dancing to 'Dinata!
