Makri Island is close to Kefalonia and Zakinthos
Makri is an Island in the Ionian Sea which is close to Kefalonia - 54kms, and Zakinthos, Zante - 68kms. In 1920, the British Navy described Makri as having "the finest natural harbour in Asia Minor", the Island was also known for its famous cedar trees. Makri is located only 2.3 nautical miles from the mainland and 14 nautical miles from the historic Island of Ithaca, beyond these lie the Islands of Lefkada and Scorpios, originally the Island of Aristotle Onassis.
The 993,000m² Island has a development capacity of 37,000m² (60% residential - 40% 5-star hotel). All legalities are in place and requests for heliport, marina and beaches have been approved. The island is less than one square kilometre and its highest point is at 126 metres. The remains of three buildings are still visible on Makri, including a small chapel, a cistern and a small house.
Makri will go for auction from July 2022, starting bid will be 3,800,000 euros.
