COCO & CHANEL - Jul '15

An SOS call from a friend who found these two kittens in a plastic bag inside waste bins.  The cruelty of someone's action is absolutely horrendous.  They weren't tiny either, they had grown. The same question asked time after time:  Can you help?  Of course I could help.  We collected them and put them into a very large cage, which allowed them to settle down.  They needed vet treatment immediately to see what medications they required.  They were both as scared as anything. They were huddled together and it was impossible to handle them without being scratched, but in time, I knew they would calm down.  They had both been through a terrible ordeal.

I chose COCO and CHANEL as names for them. After being in their large cage for a while, they were allowed to explore the old house, and began to realize that they had lots of furry friends.  Yes, some hissed at them, but that was natural, but overall, most of the colony accepted them.  They grew and became loving in so much that COCO could be picked up, cuddled and petted, while CHANEL kept her distance, which made it a little difficult when they had to go back to the vet.  They weren't designer cats, they were just ordinary stray moggies, but I still had to give them a chance and try and find them a home.  They were lucky, as a home was found for them in Holland.  So the day came when they left Greece and crossed the waters to start their new lives.  For me it was another happy ending to the never ending rescue work that takes place daily.
